Historically, gay men possess stigmatized other same-sex attracted men for organism ugly, being elderly, having a petty cock, or creature fat. The shame of such stigma often forced some gay men to keep a short profile or last out of sight in the homosexual community. This incentivized Charlie to create the first Girth and Mirth Club in San Francisco in 1976. This became a sex-positive, body-affirming, mutually supportive organized social organization.
