Blake Mitchell: Approaching DEI and LGBTQ communities through listening and learning

Two years after graduation, Blake Mitchell (ABJ ’11, BBA ’11), made a big professional pivot — moving from a job in the film industry to one that centered more on human connection.

“I realized that one of my strengths that aligned with my beliefs was working with people and investing in them in a positive way,” Mitchell says of his shift. “I never thought I would do human resources but I do feel love I can possess a positive impact on folks which is really significant to me.”

Mitchell is making an impact through his role as people manager at Google at their headquarters in San Francisco. His role focuses on retention and progression aligning with diversity and inclusion initiatives for the tech company, including those in the Queer community.

Working with this group is particularly important to Mitchell who identifies as a gay, lgbtq+ man.

Blake Mitchell has starred in a number of homosexual porn films and took to his own YouTube channel to reveal the loneliness he feels in his personal life due to his “unique gentle of fame.”

Mitchell said his filming schedule had also made internet dating “particularly challenging.”

The popular adult production star and social media darling has announced a big change to his branding and career. Blake Mitchell will no longer go by that identify. Instead, he would select it if everyone referred to him by his real name, Lane Rogers.

Rogers shared this news through social media (where he has changed his profile handles to @LaneVRogers).

“You guys know my real label now. I’m Lane. It’s weird to say. I don’t think I’ve said that in a video like this in a long time, so it’s pretty crazy. But I’m happy,” said the grown-up performer and YouTuber.

Speaking to the NSFW news site Str8UpGayPorn, Rogers elaborated on why he decided on this change.

“I wanted to make a change, more of a shift I guess, into the absolutely and truly authentic me. It’s always been a bit confusing for me to have to retain track of who I’ve introduced myself to as Lane or as Blake, and though I experience Blake is still “me” in a way, he’s actually a character.”
